IN THE MOOD: THE AUTUMN EDIT

To me, the autumn season is all about texture and mood. In my 20 years of styling spaces for national design magazines, October has always been when we swap out light, summery linen pillows and accessories for sumptuous velvet, cashmere, leather, chenille, jute, corduroy, and faux fur.  My favorite part of fall is the rich color palette that you can use to style your home – tones of sepia, ochre, nutmeg, brown sugar, smoky gray, warm rust, whiskey, mossy green, cocoa, caramel, and chocolate – in textures ranging from dried flowers, horn, tortoise, and copper to terra cotta and bronze.

In today’s post, I’ve created five autumn color palettes, along with curated shopping for you to style your home for fall. I’ve assembled wreaths, mirrors, throw blankets, bedding, artwork, vases, books, candles, tableware and linens, all in a carefully curated palette. 

The best part of these color schemes is that they can carry through to Thanksgiving, and some can even go through the holidays and the better part of winter.
